A new season and we have a new online home for discussing time trials in the Midlands District – make sure you are a member of this Facebook group  and join in the discussion about what’s going on.

Already in March we have seen a good range of events in the Midland District and the 2015 season is well underway. Banbury Star CC kicked things off with their Hardriders TT which climbs up Sunrising Hill on the edge of the Cotswolds.  Then the following weekend came the other popular early-season event in the district, the Wrekinsport Hilly, with no fewer than 80 finishers. On the same day the Worcester St. John’s CC offered riders the chance of an early season 25 by promoting a new 25-mile event on the Inkberrow course. Next came a National Classic Series TT on the sporting 23-mile course promoted by Stafford RC before the first 10 of the season was organised by VC Sevale in its usual slot at the end of March on the Severn Stoke course.

Three riders have already put in improved performances and gained promotion up a category in the rankings. Firstly, Martin Moore (Stafford RC) returned to this year’s National Series race and achieved 26th place having moved up from 35th place in same event last season. On the strength of this he moves up from 3rd-cat to 2nd cat. Similarly Ryan Kenworthy (LeisureLakesBikes.com) has moved up to 2nd-cat thanks to very consistent performances in the Banbury Star Hardriders and the National Series Race where he came in a few places ahead of Moore.

The other rider promoted this month is Martin Lines of the Worcester St. John’s CC who rode to a very strong 8th place in his own club’s 25 and takes his place amongst the 1st-cats for the first time. Congratulations to Martin.

Each month riders appear in the categories for the first time when they initially complete five counting events. Well done to the following riders who have appeared afresh in the categories:

  • Andrew Shipton (Gloucester City CC) – 2nd Cat
  • Rob Nicholls (Worcester St. John’s CC) – 2nd Cat
  • Paul Milner (Worcester St. John’s CC) – 3rd Cat
