Midlands Time Trial Rankings

In the Midlands we have a way of ranking all the riders who take part in open time trial events. Every time you ride a Midland event (that is, on a course with a code starting with 'K') you are automatically given ranking points according to your placing. If you ride five events in any 12-month period you will be given a category much like British Cycling road race categories. Why not try to progress up the rankings or challenge your clubmates to beat you on points?

Visit the separate website for the latest rankings and for full information about the Midlands Rankings.

The Midlands in May

Time triallists within the district enjoyed five opportunities to compete in open events in May and these included the biggest events of the season so far in terms of rider numbers. A chilly May bank-holiday Saturday saw a large field at the very popular Diana Cooke Memorial 10 promoted by Coventry CC on the Wolvey course. This was followed on the next weekend by a now-rare 10 on the ‘S’ version of the K33/10, organised by Stratford CC. Next came another memorial event which, like the Diana Cooke, included a separate women’s event, this time in memory of Janet Kelly and promoted by the Beacon RCC. Finally the month finished with the first events of the Midlands VTTA Points Series sponsored by Echelon Cycles in Pershore. These were two events organised by Don Picken on the K48, first a 10 on the Saturday and then a 23 on the Sunday.

April brought the sweet spring showers ... **

... and five (often damp or wind-swept) open time trialling events in the Midlands. The month kicked off with the Walsall RCC’s 10-mile event and on the same weekend was the first of two events promoted by the Warwickshire RC. This first event was a sporting event on the Inkberrow circuit but two weeks later the hard-working club also promoted a 10 on the ‘D’ version of the K33/10 at Salford Priors. On the weekend in between the Wyre Forest CRC promoted its own ‘SPOCO’ event based at Great Witley with the option for riders to complete either one or two laps and finally the month closed with possibly the wettest, coldest and most windy Beacon Little Mountain TT in the event’s 64-year history.

Rankings: The 2012 Season Is Underway……..

Welcome to the 2012 time trialling season in the Midlands District of Cycling Time Trials.

March started with two long-established hillies at extremities of the district: the Wrekinsport Hilly and the Banbury Star Hardriders. The following weekend Stourbridge Velo ran their two-lapper based at Halfpenny Green and then there was a quiet weekend before the double-header of the Burton & District CA SPOCO and the first 10 of the season promoted by VC Sevale near Malvern.

Finishing off the 2011 season in the Midlands...............

After a quiet month in August the season has finished with a flourish in the Midlands District. No fewer than seven events took place in September and then, to conclude, the Team Midland 10 just sneaked in on 2nd October. There was a good range of 10-mile events to choose from in September, along with the Banbury Star CC 25 at Princethorpe and the popular double-header hill-climb promoted by the Warwicks RC.
